Working at Langton

For over 50 years Langton has been a close knit, family orientated medical practice.  Below the members of our team give an insight into why we love working here.
For information on working with us please call 03 9791 8888 to speak to the managing director.

“I joined this practice in 1973 when Dandenong was still, medically speaking, a country town. General practitioners had full access to the Dandenong Hospital, and we were very involved in inpatient management surgery, obstetrics, anaesthetics and the Emergency Department.
Since then Dandenong has evolved into a cosmopolitan hub. The diverse demography and a full spectrum of pathology make it a fascinating place to practice, and the friendship and support of great colleagues and simply wonderful staff make this practice a job to work in, and to develop any specific medical interests.”

“I have been working at Langton Medical Centre since 1974, briefly at first and then permanently from 1979 when I returned to Australia with my young family, after working in tropical Borneo.
From those early days to the present time I have had no doubt that this is where I want to work till retirement, even though I now travel over 70 km each way to Dandenong from beautiful Sorrento. I have many patients from the seventies and eighties still, and we have ‘grown old together’ through good and difficult times.
I am also proud to call my colleagues, old and new, and our wonderful staff, my friends. Every day presents new challenges and I look forward to many more years at Langton.”

“I joined the practice in 2001 and enjoy being here. The medicine is really varied with the opportunity to explore all types of medical interests. Working in Dandenong gives a rare opportunity to see patients with a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. The staff are most supportive and helpful and the hours are flexible allowing for a work life balance.”

“I’ve worked here for 4 years after moving to Melbourne. I enjoy the team environment. The doctors, nurses, administrative support staff and Allied Health all get on very well together. Being in Dandenong there is a wide variety of medical problems and a diverse range of cultures. The practice has accommodated time off and a flexible return to work for my two maternity leave breaks.”

“I started working here 12 years ago as a GP registrar. The friendly and supportive staff and fellow GPs and the excellent working environment, the things I see and learn in this practice and even the location of the clinic are all the reasons that I’m not wanting to work anywhere else.”

“I’ve worked here for 1 ½ years after moving from Queensland to Melbourne. I am so happy that I’ve selected to work in this practice. All the doctors and staff are very helpful and welcoming.  I love the cultural diversity of patients I see.  At the end of the day I can be happy thinking that I have helped many patients in different ways.  I come to work with a smile and leave work with a smile.”
Dr Mihiri Goonatilleke

“I’ve been here forever (37 years) and I cannot think of another place I would rather work.  We have such a close team, we are almost like family.  We support each other in good times and bad, provide flexible working hours and a family friendly work place.   I’ll find any reason to bake a cake to celebrate.”
